Community: Strengthening the Heart of Vista

Joe Green has always believed that Vista’s greatest strength lies in its people—the families, volunteers, educators, and neighbors who make our city a welcoming place to call home. As a devoted husband, father, and lifelong Vista resident of over 30 years, Joe has dedicated his life to community service, from leading PTA initiatives to volunteering at his church and organizing local events. During his eight years on the Vista City Council (2016-2024), Joe worked tirelessly to enhance parks, support schools, and foster unity, embodying his motto of taking Vista “from good to great.” As your Mayor in 2026, Joe will continue to prioritize community building, ensuring every resident feels connected, supported, and empowered.

Championing Education and Youth Development

Education is at the core of Joe’s vision for a vibrant Vista. With more than a decade of PTA leadership—including serving as President of the Vista High School PTA since 2015 and the VUSD/Del Norte Council PTA since 2014—Joe has been a fierce advocate for our schools. He has collaborated with the Vista Unified School District to celebrate educators, secure resources, and promote programs that prepare our youth for success. In the coming years, Joe plans to expand partnerships between the City and VUSD, investing in after-school programs, vocational training, and facilities upgrades to give every child the tools they need to thrive.

Faith, Volunteerism, and Giving Back

Rooted in his faith, Joe has volunteered at North Coast Church since 2002, where he teaches children’s classes, leads small groups, and coordinates community service projects for organizations like the Boys & Girls Club of Vista and Beaumont Elementary School. This commitment extends to broader volunteer efforts, including fundraisers, golf outings for local causes, and events like the Vista Viking Festival. Joe’s personal journey, including his inspiring weight loss transformation in 2015-2016, reflects his dedication to self-improvement and helping others achieve their best. As Mayor, he will launch initiatives like a city-wide Volunteer Vista program to connect residents with opportunities to serve, strengthening the bonds that make our community resilient.

Enhancing Parks, Recreation, and Local Events

Joe knows that great communities are built on shared spaces and experiences. On the City Council, he advocated for recreational improvements, such as adding pickleball courts, tot lots, and splash pads, while securing federal funding through collaborations with Rep. Mike Levin. He hosted “Councilman’s Corner” discussions and appeared on podcasts to engage directly with residents on Vista’s issues. Looking ahead to 2026, Joe will focus on expanding green spaces, organizing more inclusive events, and promoting hashtags like #WAVE (We Are Vista Everyday) and #OneTeamOneDream to celebrate our collective spirit and attract visitors who boost our local economy.

A United Vista for All

In a growing city like Vista, with its diverse population and rich cultural heritage, Joe envisions a community where everyone belongs. His upbeat, gregarious approach has always emphasized optimism and collaboration, turning challenges into opportunities for growth. By addressing key needs like affordable housing, public safety, and accessibility, Joe will ensure Vista remains a place where families flourish and neighbors support one another.

Join Joe Green in weaving a stronger community fabric for Vista. Because when we come together, there’s no limit to what we can achieve—let’s make 2026 the year we elevate our city to new heights!
