Public Safety: Keeping Vista Safe and Secure
As a father, lifelong Vista resident, and former City Council member who served from 2016 to 2024, Joe Green knows that public safety is the cornerstone of a strong community. During his tenure, Joe collaborated with local agencies to enhance safety measures, including improvements at schools like Monte Vista Elementary and supporting initiatives like CPR training by the Vista Fire Department. His upbeat leadership and focus on collaboration have always prioritized protecting families, preventing crime, and ensuring quick responses to emergencies. As your Mayor in 2026, Joe will build on this foundation to make Vista even safer, fostering trust between residents and first responders while addressing emerging challenges with innovative, community-driven solutions.
Supporting Law Enforcement and Crime Prevention
Vista partners with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department for policing, and Joe has been a strong advocate for equipping our deputies with the resources they need to keep our streets safe. He’ll work to expand community policing programs that build relationships in neighborhoods, increase patrols in high-need areas, and invest in technology like body cameras and crime analytics to reduce response times and prevent incidents before they occur. Drawing from his experience securing federal funding for city projects, Joe will pursue grants to bolster these efforts, ensuring Vista remains a low-crime city where families feel secure.
Strengthening Fire and Emergency Services
Joe has long supported the Vista Fire Department, highlighting their vital role in education and preparedness, such as teaching CPR to students and staff at local schools. As Mayor, he’ll prioritize modernizing equipment, expanding training programs, and enhancing disaster response plans to handle everything from wildfires to medical emergencies. By promoting community awareness campaigns and volunteer opportunities, Joe will empower residents to play an active role in safety, creating a more resilient Vista.
Promoting Safe Schools and Neighborhoods
With over a decade of PTA leadership, including as President of Vista High School PTA, Joe understands the importance of safe learning environments. He championed safety upgrades at schools like Monte Vista Elementary during his council term and will continue this work by partnering with the Vista Unified School District to implement measures like improved crosswalks, lighting, and anti-bullying programs. Extending this to broader community spaces, Joe will focus on traffic calming, graffiti removal, and neighborhood watch initiatives to keep our parks, streets, and public areas welcoming for all.
A Collaborative Approach to Safety
Joe’s gregarious style and commitment to unity—evident in his “Councilman’s Corner” discussions and volunteer work at North Coast Church—will guide his public safety strategy. He’ll establish a Mayor’s Public Safety Advisory Council, bringing together residents, law enforcement, fire officials, and community leaders to address issues proactively. With Vista’s population growing, Joe will emphasize mental health resources, youth programs, and homelessness solutions that intersect with safety, ensuring a holistic approach that prevents problems at their root.
Join Joe Green in prioritizing public safety for a stronger, more united Vista. Because when we work together, we create a city where everyone can thrive without fear—let’s make 2026 the safest year yet!
