As Mayor I Will…
As a lifelong Vista resident, dedicated family man, and proven leader with eight years on the City Council, I, Joe Green, am excited to step up as your Mayor in 2026. My vision is simple: Take Vista from good to great by building on our strengths and addressing our challenges head-on. Drawing from my experience as a real estate broker at Green Team Realty and my deep roots in community service, I’ll focus on practical, people-first solutions that make Vista an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. My top priorities will center on public safety, infrastructure, and business development, with additional commitments to community strength, housing affordability, and collaborative leadership. Here’s what I’ll prioritize:
Enhance Public Safety and Quality of Life
Public safety is my number one priority—because safe neighborhoods are the foundation of a thriving city. I’ll support our Sheriff’s Department and Vista Fire Department by investing in modern equipment, expanding community policing, and promoting programs like CPR training in schools. Building on my council efforts to secure federal funding for safety initiatives, I’ll establish a Mayor’s Public Safety Advisory Council to foster trust and address issues like mental health resources and youth programs proactively.
Build Strong Infrastructure for the Future
Reliable infrastructure powers our daily lives and economic growth. I’ll advance key projects like road upgrades, stormwater improvements, and solar installations at public facilities, drawing from ongoing efforts such as the Bobolink Storm Drain Project and Civic Center Solar Project. By securing grants and partnering with state and federal leaders like Rep. Mike Levin, I’ll ensure Vista’s roads, drainage, and utilities are resilient, sustainable, and ready for our growing population.
Drive Business Development and Economic Prosperity
Fostering business growth will create jobs and opportunities for all. I’ll implement the Vista Economic Development Strategy by attracting industries like biotech and craft brewing, streamlining permitting, and supporting small businesses through incentives and mentorship. Collaborating with the Vista Chamber of Commerce on events and programs, I’ll make Vista a hub for innovation, building on successes like the Central Vista Business Improvement District to boost downtown vitality and workforce training.
Strengthen Our Community Bonds
Community is the heart of Vista, and I’ll keep it strong by expanding volunteer programs, enhancing parks with more recreational spaces, and deepening partnerships with the Vista Unified School District. From my PTA leadership and church volunteerism, I’ll promote inclusive events and unity under #WAVE and #OneTeamOneDream.
Promote Affordable Housing and Smart Growth
With my real estate expertise, I’ll incentivize balanced development for workforce housing and mixed-use projects, preserving open spaces while addressing rising costs through thoughtful policies.
Lead with Optimism and Collaboration
Above all, I’ll govern with the upbeat energy that defined my council tenure, listening through open forums like “Mayor’s Corner” and working across lines to deliver results rooted in faith and family values.
